Bill and Boris wave goodbye

In the year 2000, Bill Clinton and Boris Yeltsin would both retire from the international political scene.
They wanted a playful illustration of this in the children's magazine 'Klap', so I got to work!

Bill was already recognizable from my first sketch,
Boris on the other hand ... there was still a lot of work to be done ! ...

... in the end it got better :-) This is the final line drawing.

I had quite a bit of testing to get satisfied with the colors ...

However, I nów think that my choice back then was too shrill!
(Those months there was something wrong with me, my eyes were overstimulated.
A kind of migraine?... Everything I did then turned out to be too bright in color.)

Fortunately, the display in 'Klap' was slightly less bright. Changed intentionally by the editor? Or by chance? I will never know...
